Sinkhole Attack Detection and Avoidance Mechanism for RPL in Wireless Sensor Networks

The security issue is one of the main problems in Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) and Internet Things (IoTs). RPL (Routing protocol for low power lossy networks) a standard routing WSN, not to be missed from being attacks. performance reduced significantly after attacked. Sinkhole attack most common attacks WSN RPL, threatening network capability by discarding packets disrupting paths. Therefore, this paper proposes new Secured-RPL detect avoid sinkhole network, which called Cross Layers Secured (CLS-RPL). This enhanced existing protocol. CLS-RPL cross-layer that uses information data link layer its mechanism. technique concept detecting based on eave-listening (overhearing) allows child node parent transmission. If does hear any transmission sending several packets, means attacker. Otherwise, if hears node, legitimate continues send more packets. implements simple mechanism provides high packet delivery ratio. finding shows 52% improvement terms ratio when compared
